Headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Utility Service Partners was formed in September, 2003 to purchase Columbia Service Partners from Columbia Energy. Utility Service Partners operates a number of divisions that serve approximately 300,000 active utility line warranties in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Michigan, South Carolina, and Georgia. AWHR, also managed under Utility Service Partners, Inc., has a portfolio of approximately 115,000 rented water heaters, conversion burners and other appliances primarily in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Florida. It was originally formed in the 1990s by American Electric Power to promote the use of electric water heaters in their service territory. AWHR is currently implementing a solar water heater rental initiative which it expects to be very interesting to utility partners.
